Aztec Art and Culture: An International Symposium
The first symposium devoted exclusively to Aztec culture ever to be held in Britain, this event will gather distinguished international scholars from Mexico, the United States and Europe to discuss recent developments in the study of Aztec art and culture.
Sessions will focus on new archaeological research, new interpretations of Aztec codices, and aspects of the Contact Period.
Speakers include Felipe Solís Olguín, Museo Nacional de Antropología, Mexico City, Leonardo López Luján, Museo del Templo Mayor, Mexico City, historians Hugh Thomas and John Elliot, Gordon Brotherston, Universities of Essex and Stanford, Jacqueline de Durand-Forest, Centre National des Recherches Scientifiques, Paris, Elizabeth Hill Boone, Tulane University, Emily Umberger, Arizona State University, and Patricia Anawalt, University of California.
