AZTECS coincides with the Mexican Cultural Festival (1 November 2002 to 15 March 2003) which explores the magic of prehispanic Mexico with many outstanding examples of contemporary Mexican art.
The festival is taking place in venues across the country, including the Royal Academy of Arts, the Barbican Gallery, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Instituto Cervantes at Manchester and London, Canning House, Saint James Church, the Museum of Installation and several universities.
Emerging and established artists are visiting the United Kingdom during these months to share the most recent contemporary Mexican art with European audiences.
Literature and folklore, the plastic arts, performance and installation, new technologies and cinema: all these media provide a superb range of more than twenty cultural activities. Click here to visit the Mexican Cultural Festival online at www.mexart.co.uk
